There’s something hard to beat about an early morning on the coast. Good people, a run by the beach, and a coffee waiting at the end.
Over the past year we’ve hosted two events with LSKD and Grace Grove at Sunday Coffee Bokarina, bringing together a genuinely unreal group of people for mornings built around movement, community and, obviously, coffee.
For us, these mornings are exactly what Sunday is about.
More than just a coffee shop
When we opened in Bokarina, we wanted it to be more than somewhere you grab a coffee and leave.
Being a few hundred metres from Bokarina Beach gives us one of the best spots on the coast for mornings spent outside, whether that’s a walk, a run, a swim, or catching up with friends afterwards.
The events with LSKD and Grace Grove took that idea up a level. Seeing the place packed with runners before most people have properly started their day is something else. Different fitness levels, different backgrounds, plenty of people meeting for the first time, all there for the same simple reason: get moving and have a good morning.
The Grace Grove Run Tour comes to Bokarina
One of the highlights was having the Grace Grove Run Tour stop with us.

The morning brought the LSKD running community together at Bokarina before heading out along the coast, then circling back for the most important part of any run club: the post-run coffee. There were plenty of them.
The combination works. Coastal paths, the beach and specialty coffee all within a few hundred metres of each other. We’d take that over a treadmill any day.
Why we love the local running community
Run clubs have become a big part of the social scene around here, and it’s easy to see why.
You don’t have to be chasing a marathon PB. For a lot of people it’s simply an excuse to get outside, meet new people and start the day doing something good.

That community side is what we love most. Coffee shops have always been meeting places, and mornings like these turn Sunday into exactly that. A place where friendships start, groups meet, and people hang around a fair bit longer than they planned.
It also helps that coffee tastes significantly better after a run. We’re fairly confident that’s science.
LSKD, Grace Grove and Sunday
Working with LSKD and Grace Grove makes sense because there’s a real overlap in what our communities enjoy. Movement, good coffee, being outdoors, catching up with mates, and not taking it all too seriously.
Across both events it’s been great watching the local running and fitness crowd show up and get behind them. These aren’t events where you need to be the fastest person there. They’re about turning up.
More community events at Bokarina
We want to keep doing this.
Sunday Coffee Bokarina sits in a pretty unique spot for community events, with the beach, coastal paths, parks and the cafe all on the doorstep. Whether it’s another LSKD morning, a community run, a brand collaboration or something completely different, we love seeing the cafe used as a starting point and a meeting place.
Because Sunday has never really just been about coffee. It’s about that feeling you get on a good Sunday morning. Nowhere you desperately need to be, good people around you, and something worth getting out of bed for.
We just try to make that happen seven days a week.

See you at the next one
A massive thank you to LSKD, Grace Grove and everyone who’s come along so far. Two down, and hopefully plenty more to come.

Coffee first or run first. We won’t judge.
